Roy worked on his father's farm and those of neighbours. When he got married he bought his own farm across the road from his brother Gordon in Bentinck Twp. and farmed there for 29 years. He retired to a new home in Hanover in 1960. In 1983 he and Lyla moved to Grey Owen Lodge in Markdale. He was the last surviving member of his family.
Roy married Lyla Mae HILLGARTNER, daughter of Solomon HILLGARTNER and Fanny MILLER, on 20 Feb 1931. (Lyla Mae HILLGARTNER was born on 15 Apr 1894, died on 4 Aug 1991 in Markdale, , ON and was buried on 6 Aug 1991 in Hanover, , Ontario, Canada.)
