Hiram Thomas BUSH

  General Notes:

He was born in Prescott some seventy years ago and came to Port Hope from Detroit Michigan where he was manager of the Ideal Manufacturing Co. In Port Hope. He then established the Standard Ideal Company and it became one of the the town's leading industries. About 1915 he severed his connections with this plant and it then became known as the Port Hope Sanitary Company. (manufacturers of sanitary china, toilets, etc.)

  Death Notes:

He died while visiting his daughter at Waterloo, Ontario.

  Burial Notes:

Interment in the Port Hope Union Cemetery. The funeral was held in the St. John's Anglican Church, conducted by Rev. A.G. Emmett. As a mark of respect, the stores drew their blinds at the time of the funeral. Members of the Town Council attended in a body as a recognition of Mr. Bush's services as Mayor of the town for three years.

Hiram married Pauline LEE. (Pauline LEE was born in 1866 in Texas, USA and died on 21 Apr 1947 in Port Hope, ON.)
