Jonathan FANGRAD

  General Notes:

John went to school in Nogath, Kreis Graudenz, West Prussia. He worked on his father's farm until emigrating to Canada in August, 1926. He travelled on the Montcalm and arrived in Quebec City. He worked on a farm in the Underhill, Ontario area, near Tiverton. He then worked in Hanover, ON at Knechtel Furniture, where all three brothers lived together and worked . They also played their instruments at the Hanover Salvation Army citadel as well as the town band.

He was a cabinet maker by trade and found work at Kroehler Mfg. Co. Ltd. in Stratford, ON. He attended the Salvation Army citadel where he met and married Aunt Irene. They later became members of the Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle, Stratford, ON. U. John retired in 1974. He loved music, played the cornet and some violin. He was leader of the Salvation Army Band in Stratford for about 5 years, also played in the church orchestra. He accepted the Lord as a teenager in Germany and spent his life living for the Lord. He was a student of the Word. He loved to water ski, swim and go boating. His church affiliations were, Baptist in Germany, Salvation Army in Hanover and Stratford, and later, Pentecostal, in Stratford.

Jonathan married Irene May PEAKE, daughter of George PEAKE and Annie Emma Elisa MASTERS, on 1 May 1936 in Stratford, Perth, ON, Canada. (Irene May PEAKE was born on 5 Mar 1918 in Stratford, Perth, ON, Canada and died on 28 Dec 2010 in Orillia, , ON.)
